Abstract
This study helps readers to understand teenagers¡¯ cellular phone dependency. Basic data are provided that can be used for parent education groups and consultations regarding cellular phone dependency. A total of 578 teenagers?408 males and 170 females?in middle and high schools in Seoul, Incheon, and Kyongi-Do were surveyed. The researchers found that, in general, teenager cellular phone dependency is not high. The high-dependent group was distinguishable from the low-dependent group in terms of gender and other socio-demographic variables, but not in terms of school variables. The two groups were also distinguishable by virtue of family function, especially in subareas such as support, communication, and the pursuit of autonomy.
